The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has a population of approximately 264,000 and the official language is a distinct dialect of Turkish. Most locals, however, also speak English.
As Cyprus was a British colony once, driving is on the left. There are many firms offering rent-a-cars and the public transport system is not only very reasonable in price, but also easily accessible. A so-called "dolmus" (shared taxi) will take you to most places, giving you a great insight into the local colour at the same time.

The ideal time to spend a relaxing holiday on the beach, to take part in excursions or to go sightseeing, is from April to June and from September to the beginning of November. The temperatures in these months are moderate and the rainfall is low. Water temperatures reach 20°C as early as May and do not decrease until November. If you would like to visit North Cyprus during its hottest months July and August, we would recommend booking a beach-side hotel.
